The topics covered in this course are:
Day 1 (Week1, Day1)
Lesson 1: SolidWorks Basics and the User Interface
An explanation of “What is the SolidWorks Software?” and an overview of what it looks like.
Lesson 2: Introduction to Sketching
How to create and dimension 2D sketches using SolidWorks with an explanation on how to use common sketch tools.
Lesson 3: Basic Part Modeling
How to create multiple different feature to define the geometry of a part.
Lesson 1: Drawing Sheets and Views
How to create a drawing sheet and add different views to that sheet.
Lesson 2: Dimensions
Adding and manipulating dimensions on a drawing sheet.
Day 2 (Week1, Day2)
Lesson 4: Modeling a Casting or Forging
Modelling parts with draft and using symmetry in sketches and features.
Lesson 5: Patterning
Common pattern and mirror features in SolidWorks.
Lesson 6: Revolved Features
How to model revolved solids using revolved features and some special sketch techniques for revolves.
The use of SolidWorks SimulationXpress for design checking and comparative analysis.
Lesson 7: Shelling and Ribs
Creating thin walled parts using the “Shell” feature and support structures using the “Rib” feature.
